Production Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Production Chemical Engineer to oversee and optimize operations at their facility in Mossel Bay . This hands-on role involves ensuring the efficient, safe, and continuous production of chemical products, directly contributing to the company's operational success. You will be responsible for troubleshooting plant issues, implementing process improvements, and managing production targets. This is a critical position for an engineer who enjoys working on the plant floor and has a passion for operational excellence in the chemical industry, serving the vital industrial hub of the Western Cape .

• Monitor and control chemical production processes to meet quality and output targets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems, conducting root cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve safety.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production activities.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies and regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in a chemical production or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in process troubleshooting and optimization within a plant setting.
• Strong knowledge of process safety principles and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
