About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Research Chemist to join their innovative research and development team based in Mossel Bay . This role requires hands-on laboratory work and is focused on developing new chemical compounds and improving existing formulations. You will be responsible for leading research projects from conception to completion, contributing to the company's product pipeline and technological advancements.
This position is ideal for a chemist with a passion for discovery, a meticulous approach to experimentation, and the ability to translate complex chemical principles into practical applications within a progressive research environment.
- Synthesize and characterize novel chemical compounds for various applications.
- Develop and optimize reaction conditions for efficient and scalable chemical processes.
- Perform detailed analytical testing using techniques such as NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, and IR spectroscopy.
- Troubleshoot experimental issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including formulation scientists and process engineers.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and present research findings.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in synthetic chemistry research, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Expertise in organic synthesis and reaction mechanisms.
- Proficiency with modern analytical instrumentation and data interpretation.
- Strong understanding of chemical safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
