Senior Research Scientist - Microbiology

Our client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Senior Research Scientist specializing in Microbiology to join their advanced research facility in Mossel Bay. • Lead research projects focused on microbial characterization, metabolic engineering, and fermentation processes.
• Design and perform experiments involving microbial culturing, genetic manipulation, and molecular analysis.
• Analyze and interpret complex microbiological and biochemical data, generating reports and presenting findings.
• Develop and optimize protocols for microbial strain isolation, identification, and characterization.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain meticulous laboratory records.
• Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to integrate microbial solutions into larger R&D projects in Mossel Bay.

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience post-Ph.D., with a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated expertise in microbial genetics, molecular techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, sequencing), and microbial physiology.
• Experience with bioinformatics tools for microbial genomics and metabolic pathway analysis is advantageous.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques for culturing and handling diverse microbial communities.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
