FMCG Product Development Scientist

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced FMCG Product Development Scientist to join their Research & Development team in Mossel Bay. This critical role involves the conceptualization, development, and refinement of new and existing Fast-Moving Consumer Goods products, ensuring they meet market demands, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, R&D, and production, to bring exciting new products from the laboratory bench to full-scale commercialization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background and a passion for creating successful consumer products.

• Lead the development of new FMCG products from concept generation through to market launch.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, formulation development, and product testing to optimize product performance and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, throughout the product lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during product development and scale-up.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Research and evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and processing methods to drive product innovation.

• Master's degree or PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development within the FMCG sector.
• Strong understanding of formulation science, product testing, and scale-up processes.
• Experience with sensory evaluation and consumer product testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and scientific documentation.
