About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate Biologist to join their esteemed Marine Research division in Mossel Bay . Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys and collect biological samples from marine environments, adhering to strict safety and ethical guidelines.
  • Perform laboratory analysis of samples, including species identification, genetic analysis, and assessment of environmental impact.
  • Analyze and interpret ecological data, contributing to research reports and scientific publications.
  • Collaborate with research scientists and conservationists on marine biodiversity projects and ecosystem health assessments.
  • Maintain detailed field and laboratory records, ensuring data accuracy and proper sample management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marine conservation strategies and research proposals.
Requirements
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Marine Biology, Ecology, Zoology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in marine fieldwork, including diving certifications (e.g., PADI, scientific diver) and survey techniques.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques for sample processing, identification (e.g., microscopy, genetic sequencing), and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of marine ecosystems, conservation principles, and research methodologies.
  • Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in challenging field conditions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team collaboration in Mossel Bay .
