Mine Safety Officer

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across their mining operations near Mossel Bay . This vital role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs to prevent accidents and occupational health issues. You will work closely with site management and employees to foster a strong safety culture, conduct regular inspections, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.

• Develop and implement site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of mining operations, equipment, and work practices.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, promoting awareness and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with all national mining safety regulations and standards.

• National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field.
• Registered as a Safety Professional with a recognized body (e.g., SACPCMP).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the mining industry.
• Thorough knowledge of mining hazards, risk assessment techniques, and safety legislation.
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
