About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and compassionate Family Support Counselor to join their team in Mossel Bay , providing essential services to strengthen families and improve child well-being. You will work directly with families facing various challenges, offering guidance, counseling, and connection to community resources. This role requires a deep understanding of family dynamics and a commitment to fostering positive change in a supportive environment.
You will be instrumental in helping families build resilience and achieve healthier, more stable relationships.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of family strengths, needs, and challenges.
- Provide individual, couple, and family counseling services to address relational and situational issues.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans aimed at improving family functioning and child welfare.
- Connect families with relevant community resources, such as educational programs, healthcare services, and crisis intervention.
- Facilitate psycho educational groups and workshops for parents and families.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interventions and progress towards goals.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing counseling and support to families.
- Strong knowledge of child development, family systems theory, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and empathetic listening skills.
- Proficiency in case management and documentation.
- Experience working within the Western Cape community services landscape is an advantage.
