About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and caring Family Support Coordinator to serve families in the Mossel Bay area. This role is dedicated to strengthening family units by providing essential resources, guidance, and support through challenging times. You will work directly with families to identify their needs, connect them with community services, and facilitate programs that promote healthy family dynamics and child well-being.
This is a rewarding position for an individual committed to making a positive difference in the lives of families within the Western Cape community.
- Conduct needs assessments for families, identifying areas requiring support in parenting, child development, and household management.
- Develop and implement tailored support plans for families, coordinating services with relevant agencies and professionals.
- Facilitate parenting workshops and educational sessions aimed at enhancing family communication and child-rearing skills.
- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to families experiencing difficulties.
- Assist families in accessing community resources, such as healthcare, housing assistance, and educational opportunities.
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of family interactions, interventions, and progress.
- A relevant qualification in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in family support, child welfare, or community development.
- Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and the challenges faced by modern families.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivities in the Mossel Bay region.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other service providers.
