Air Traffic Controller - Regional Airport

About the Role

Our client is seeking a certified and highly vigilant Air Traffic Controller to manage the airspace around a busy regional airport in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, coordinating arrivals, departures, and en-route movements. You will operate advanced radar and communication systems, making critical decisions under pressure to prevent collisions and maintain the integrity of the airspace.

• Direct and control air traffic in assigned airspace, ensuring separation standards are maintained between aircraft.
• Communicate effectively with pilots via radio, providing clearances, advisories, and information regarding weather, navigation, and airport conditions.
• Monitor radar displays and other surveillance systems to track aircraft movements and identify potential conflicts.
• Coordinate with other air traffic control units, airport operations, and emergency services as necessary.
• Manage flow control initiatives during periods of high traffic volume or adverse weather conditions.
• Maintain a high level of alertness and concentration, performing duties according to established procedures and regulations.

• Valid Air Traffic Controller license and relevant certifications from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
• Demonstrated experience in controlling diverse air traffic, including commercial, general aviation, and military aircraft.
• Proficiency with modern air traffic control radar, communication, and automation systems.
• Excellent decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure and during emergencies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and decisive.
• Must meet stringent medical and psychological fitness requirements for the role.
