Structural engineering for critical, complex projects

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team and help deliver innovative, high-impact projects across multiple sectors. You will play a key role in power and energy schemes, from substations and grid infrastructure to renewable energy facilities, while also contributing to projects in industrial, defence and transportation environments.

• Designing and specifying structural elements across complex, multidisciplinary projects, with a strong focus on power and energy infrastructure
• Producing high-quality drawings, specifications and technical reports in line with industry standards
• Collaborating with engineers across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable solutions
• Reviewing calculations, drawings and supplier submissions to ensure technical excellence and compliance
• Supporting and mentoring early-career engineers while contributing to continuous technical improvement

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• Proven structural design experience in at least one sector Baker Hicks operates in, with power sector experience highly desirable
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or IStructE
• Experience using structural analysis software such as Master Series, STAAD or Tedds
• Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM regulations
• A collaborative communicator who thrives in multidisciplinary environments
• Eligibility for security clearance, essential for certain projects
• UK project experience gained through employment, internships or graduate placements
• Work on a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure programmes, including nation‑critical power projects
