This is an exciting opportunity to join our Technical & Design team to provide a technician civil engineering service relating to the Council's extensive Corporate portfolio of properties.

You will be joining a Service which strives for excellence in service delivery and works well with both partner organisations and the general construction sector. You will work within a multi-disciplinary environment and be responsible for design, specification, cost planning, preparation of contract documents, payments and contract administration on civil engineering projects.

As Technician (Civil Engineer), you will be part of the Technical & Design team. You will be involved in all aspects of the traditional technician civil engineering role, including procurement and contract management.

Current civil engineering challenges include the delivery of small to large scale in value public building demolition projects, the provision of new cemetery facilities, and resolving ground and drainage solutions.

You should be educated to SVQ4, HND, degree level or equivalent in a relevant Civil Engineering subject and be eligible for Graduate or Technician membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.). You should have significant experience within the design and construction industry, experience of computerised design and billing systems, and preferably have knowledge of public sector procurement and current industry standard forms of construction contract conditions.

You will require a full driving licence to undertake the duties of this post.

Work pattern:

35 hours per week
- Monday
- Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)

Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
