Family is at the heart of his life and he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and family dog. He has a great sense of humour and enjoys being around warm, respectful people who are easy to get along with.

This role offers the opportunity to support someone to continue enjoying family life, community activities and the things that matter most to him.

The Role

At home, support may include:

Out in the community, support may include:

  • Driving and accompanying him to appointments and activities
  • Pushing his wheelchair when required
  • Going shopping, to the cinema, swimming, football matches or local cafés
  • Supporting family days out and trips to new places
  • Helping him stay active and connected to the community

He has Huntington’s Disease and requires patient, respectful support that promotes independence and wellbeing.

This may include helping him to:

  • Plan and structure his day
  • Stay active and involved in community life
  • Make the most of family time and personal interests
  • Communicate in a calm, supportive and respectful way

Training and guidance will be provided where required.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Friendly, warm and patient
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Someone who enjoys helping others maintain independence
  • A good communicator with a sense of humour
  • Comfortable working within a family-oriented home environment
  • Happy around children and a small family dog
  • An interest in football, comedy, coffee trips and getting out and about would be a bonus.
Hours and Pay

Approx. 20 hours per week across 3 to 4 days initially

Some weekend work and flexibility will be required and can be discussed at interview.

£15.00 per hour

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Willingness to undertake any relevant training
  • First Aid knowledge is beneficial but not essential

If you are a warm, practical and positive person who enjoys supporting someone to live life their way, this could be a highly rewarding role.

If you are selected for the next stage of the recruitment process, a member of the GCIL Team will be in touch to arrange the next steps.

If you are successfully hired, you will be employed directly by a Private Employer on a PAYE basis and will be entitled to all statutory rights as set out by Employment Law, including paid holidays and statutory sick pay (where eligible).
