Scottish Ambulance Service are recruiting for a Master Craftsperson (Vehicle Technician) to be based at, Motherwell, Range Road, Fleet Workshop facility.
You will be one of a highly skilled and dedicated team reporting to the Workshop Chargehand. The successful candidate may be required to work from other Scottish Ambulance Service Workshops, on occasions. This is a dayshift position from 08:00 until 16:00 Mon - Fri. Weekend on call on a rota.

- Be a qualified Vehicle Technician with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles.
- Have undertaken an automotive apprenticeship and be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or comparable qualification) or equivalent experience.
- Have experience operating in a demanding working environment with health and safety at the forefront of our operation.
- Be confident in delivering a high-quality vehicle and equipment support, with a minimum of supervision, to our front-line colleagues throughout the West Region.
- Have a sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostics
- Having a knowledge of electrical and tail lift repairs would be advantageous.
- Be familiar in the use of internet and e-mail is desirable
- Hold a full driving licence with C1 entitlement or attain C! entitlement within 12 months of appointment (support may be available to attain this and can be discussed at interview)
This is a full-time position working 36 hours Monday to Friday. You will also be required to be undertake occasional overtime and public holiday working. Motherwell Workshop has weekend On-call on a rota; all paid at the appropriate enhanced rate.
If you are asked to work at another workshop it may a different shift pattern.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a 'regulated role', your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
