Position:
Behavior Manager Para educator

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8.0 hours per day with 30 minute unpaid break (8.50 total hrs/day)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: $27.53/hour per the para educator labor agreement

Required Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED and one of the following:
    • An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or
    • Two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution of higher education which are applicable toward a bachelors degree, or
    • Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the Para Pro Assessment or a passing score on Para educator Online.   • Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff, students, and community.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to get along with all types of students and other people and have patience and calm manner in dealing with parents and students.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to interpret documents, ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and interpret data related to student performance.
  • Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of multiple software packages.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the behavior of students through programs in conjunction with administration, teachers and the pupil problem solving team. Assist in other student management by facilitating problem solving with students. Individual behavior management programs take priority over all other responsibilities.
  • Develop, supervise and monitor pro-active individual student behavior management plans.
  • Meet with all caseload students on a regularly scheduled basis. Collects data, compiles and updates files on all caseload students. Record data regarding the progress of students on their caseloads.
  • Communicate and confer with teachers, parents, and Pupil Problem Solving Team (PPST) or Pupil Assistance Team (PAT) members regarding behavior of all students on caseload.
  • Set up and supervise times for providing students with feedback regarding their goals as established according to building and program guidelines. Communicate with parents regarding their student as needed.
  • Actively participate in pupil problem solving team meetings with the building administrator, school social worker, school psychologist, counselors, and teachers. Collect and share data regarding student progress.
  • Conduct social skills group or problem solving sessions when deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide a continuum of support services for students who display difficulty in successfully meeting the behavioral expectations in classrooms, hallways, lunchroom and playground.
  • Restrain student in emergency crisis situations according to district policy and individual learning plans.
  • May supervise students placed in the structured learning center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
