A Day in the Life Medtronic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Software Test Engineer - HIL to join our Affera Mapping and Ablation System team. This role is essential in supporting the testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of our advanced medical devices.

The ideal candidate has experience designing, developing, and testing real-time, high-performance visualization applications, as well as hardware-in-the-loop test environments for embedded or medical systems.

The Affera Mapping and Ablation System is an innovative medical technology designed to treat patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The system involves advanced mapping techniques to create detailed images of the heart's electrical activity, helping physicians identify abnormal areas causing arrhythmias. Once identified, the Affera Ablation System delivers targeted energy to disrupt these abnormal signals, restoring normal heart rhythm.

This role will be onsite a minimum of 4 days a week.

• Test the functionality and performance of systems software in both standalone and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments
• Maintain broad understanding of current testing software technologies and hardware-in-the-loop testing methods
• Test the functionality and performance of the systems software
• Develop and execute manual test plans and scripts designed to detect problems
• Ensure systems software meets technical and functional requirements
• Perform workflow analysis, document test results and recommend quality improvements
• Work with engineers to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future models.

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing in an embedded or medical device environment, including integration of hardware, software, and simulation-based test setups to validate system performance and reliability.

• Expert knowledge of Medical Product verification, IEC-62304 and FDA guidance in a technical discipline, preferably software related (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
• Experience debugging hardware with tools such as oscilloscope and function generators
• Experience writing, executing, and maintaining test automation scripts in Python or a comparable language. Experience should include automating functional, regression, and system-level test cases; working with test frameworks and reusable test libraries; analyzing logs and test results; debugging failures; and integrating automated tests into the broader verification workflow.
• Experience writing technical reports
• Experience using a tool or repository for managing test cases (Polarion, TFS, Test Rail, JAMA etc
• Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial drive
• Ability to work with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers when discovering,documenting, and resolving integration issues.
