Location:

Mount Airy and King, NC. Part Time and PRN CNA/Caregiver/Companions. Certification is not required but can be a plus and is paid a premium. Must be able to work some weekends. Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record. Services provided within a 30-mile radius of the branch address. Must have an up-to-date smartphone for time/attendance, care tasks, and communication.

Position Summary

This position reports to the Client Services Manager (CSM) or designated supervisor and is synonymous with Companion, Housekeeper, Homemaker, and Chore Worker.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, feeding; mobility assistance with transfer aids.
  • Meal preparation and light housekeeping and laundry (including dishes, kitchen cleaning, laundry of clothes and linens).
  • Grocery shopping/errands/transportation; work with dementia/Alzheimer’s clients.
  • Provide companionship and engage in daily activities with clients.
  • Pet services (grooming assistance, feeding, walking, bathing).
  • Represent the company positively; promote safety and well-being; follow company programs.
  • Provide general assistance to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment; document services per agency policy; timely reporting of changes or incidents.
  • Listen and respond to client needs; follow supervisor guidance as appropriate.
Professional Conduct & Development
  • Attend internal staff development programs and continuing education as required.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Start on time; communicate effectively; maintain confidentiality.
  • Dress code; adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Assist or direct clients to appropriate resources; comply with risk management, safety, infection control, TB screening, security, and fire procedures.
  • Complete mandatory in-services, certifications, and licensure competencies as required.
Prerequisites
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED required; training program completion if required by state regulation or contract.
  • Direct Previous

    Experience:

    Two years in a similar role and with the elderly are desired but not required.
Skills & Competencies
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to work with minimal or close supervision; maintain confidentiality.
  • Pass competency testing at hire and ongoing (meal prep, housekeeping, infection control, safety, emergencies, transportation, pet care).
Other Qualifications
  • Must have an updated Android or iPhone smartphone; valid driver’s license with proof of insurance; current state Aide Registry listing if applicable.
Abilities
  • Work indoors in client homes; reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift, stand, bend, transfer, and assist with daily living activities.
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive or stressful situations; sit/stand for extended periods.
Travel
  • Ability to commute to various client locations during the workday/week.
Working Conditions
  • 50-90% of work in client homes; potential exposure to odors, body fluids, and cleaning/disinfectant agents; valid driving record required.
Qualifications (Driver)
  • Driver age typically 21-70 (or older with physician statement); valid license; no disqualifying traffic or criminal history as specified.
