Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality tax compliance and planning services to individuals and closely held businesses. This role is ideal for an experienced public accountant who is technically strong in tax, comfortable working directly with clients, and able to manage engagements independently while collaborating closely with principals and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Compliance & Planning
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates
- Assist with year-round tax planning and advisory services for business owners and high-net-worth individuals
- Research complex tax issues and prepare clear, practical recommendations
- Ensure compliance with multi-state and local tax requirements as applicable
- Client Service
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned tax clients
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional, and solutions-oriented manner
- Build and maintain long‑term client relationships through proactive communication
- Engagement & Workflow Management
- Manage multiple tax engagements and deadlines, particularly during busy season
- Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide coaching and feedback
- Coordinate with principals and administrative team to ensure smooth engagement delivery
- Firm Support
- Assist with special projects, IRS and state correspondence, and notices
- Contribute to process improvements and best practices as the firm continues to modernize
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred)
- CPA license or CPA‑eligible with intent to maintain licensure
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting with a tax focus
- Strong technical knowledge of individual and business taxation
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Preferred
- Experience with closely held businesses
- Prior client‑facing experience with increasing responsibility
