Job DescriptionIT Specialist Jr.
Education / Experience- Two to four (2-4) years of IT experience required.
- High school Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- CompTIA Security+ (Certified in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level) required.
- Microsoft Technology Associate.
- Any CompTIA certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – will lead to promotion in Net Ops.
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – will lead to promotion in Sys Ops.
Ability to obtain a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), SECRET INTERIM to start.
The Enterprise Service Desk offers 100% remote phone support, while the IT Specialists (both Jr. and Sr.) provide hands‑on desktop support, including reimaging, deploying Windows 10, rolling out software upgrades, shipping hardware to end users, and troubleshooting Tier 1 issues escalated by the Service Desk. The Jr. role reports to the Sr. specialist and is a career path within the field.
Responsibilities- Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain IT systems in both stand‑alone and client‑server environments, including MS server, Defense Message Systems, and other authorized IT systems.
- Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain hardware and software for network services, storage networking devices, and servers; integrate multiple information systems in a networked environment, evaluate and resolve customer information system problems, and perform required hardware upgrades.
- Install and configure wireless hubs, routers, switches, and various transmission media; ensure proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software for efficient operation on the network.
- Install, optimize, and troubleshoot local area and base area networks. Familiar with IPv6, routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP), VLANs, VPNs, and NAT.
