Pastor – Calvin Christian Reformed Church
Calvin Christian Reformed Church, an active, devoted, and generous congregation, has been serving Rock Valley and beyond for nearly 75 years. The church has had eight pastors, most recently Rev. Gideon Wamal who retired after an 18‑year tenure. The congregation is currently guided by interim Pastor Doug De Groot. It is now seeking a new pastor who will walk alongside the church, encouraging growth and deepening the impact for the Kingdom of God.
The ministry is anchored in Sunday worship services that provide opportunities for worship, biblical instruction, service, and fellowship. Additional ministries offer regular instruction and service, led by a dedicated volunteer core within a spacious and accessible facility.
Responsibilities- Preaching and teaching: thoughtfully prepare and deliver biblically based sermons; administer sacraments and teach in multiple settings.
- Worship and liturgist: plan and lead Sunday services and special services such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Good Friday, with support from a Worship Coordinator.
- Spiritual direction and pastoral care: provide timely guidance for baptisms, professions of faith, marriages, healing, and support for those grieving.
- Leadership and management: serve as the spiritual and organizational leader, partnering with the Council to guide the congregation into a new season of ministry.
- Public presence and community engagement: represent the church in the community and denomination and participate in community events.
- Effective communicator with the ability to craft and deliver impactful biblical sermons.
- Encouraging coach experienced in vision casting, consensus building, strategic initiative development, and change management.
- Wise liturgist who designs joyous, relevant, and authentic worship services.
- Devoted shepherd dedicated to the spiritual well‑being of the congregation.
- Devoted to the Lord and able to testify to His love and call to pastoral ministry.
- Dependent on the Word and Spirit; a lifelong learner of God’s Word.
- Develops the fruit of the Spirit, fostering positive relationships within the church and community.
- Dedicates to the local church as the hope of the world.

- Support Christian day‑school education.
- Meet or exceed ordination requirements as a Minister of the Word & Sacrament in the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA).
First Mt. Juliet offers a Christ‑centered community for families. The Student Ministry serves students from 6th grade to high‑school graduation, fostering a deep love for God and a life of purpose.
The role involves teaching, leading volunteers, planning events, and fostering spiritual growth among students and their families. The ideal candidate is a servant leader with strong communication, organization, and relational skills, actively engaged in church life.
Primary Responsibilities- Build Christ‑centered relationships with students in grades 6–12.
- Maintain a visible presence at MJCA and local schools.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and counseling to students and families.
- Create opportunities for students to identify and use their spiritual gifts.
- Lead a welcoming environment where all students feel known and loved.
- Collect feedback to continually improve ministry impact and relevance.
- Develop supportive relationships with parents and equip them as disciple‑makers.
- Provide leadership and development to student ministry staff and volunteers.
- Encourage and create community among leaders through team‑building and appreciation efforts.
- Provide ongoing equipping through training events, resources, and mentorship.
- Encourage students to engage schools and communities with the gospel.
