Summary

The purpose of this position is to ensure the plant has all the required parts needed to produce customer orders while meeting the plant’s inventory goals and assist in the shipping of finished goods and parts to the customer. This position will also work on continuous improvement projects to help the facility improve operations.

Who We Are

Powerex has been part of the Berkshire Hathaway family for over 30 years. We manufacture Medical Gas Equipment for hospitals and universities and design compressed air and vacuum solutions for industrial applications.

Essential Duties
  • Perform a variety of MRP functions.
  • Analyze material requirements and place POs daily.
  • Process packets from engineering.
  • Review the past due report and the plant’s shortage board daily then expedite orders as needed.
  • Ensure the plant meets all inventory target levels while minimizing shortages.
  • Manage Kanban racks and create POs as needed to replenish inventory.
  • Create POs for Non‑Production part orders as required by engineering.
  • Ensure all materials are ordered in a timely fashion.
  • Notify the production team of any potential delays due to parts.
  • Produce, analyze and send forecasts to vendors as needed.
  • Constantly analyze and adjust safety stock levels on all specified parts.
  • Assist in managing the plant's cycle count program.
  • Conduct and assist with continuous improvement events to help the materials group and production function more efficiently.
  • Assist with the Obsolescence report as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or three years’ experience in a purchasing related field, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Experience with an MRP system.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Complex problem solving and critical thinking skills required.
  • Experience with Kanban and VMI programs preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analysis experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving skills.
  • Anticipates internal customer needs accurately and quickly establishes credibility with internal customers.
  • Proven success as a team member, collaborating cross‑functionally and participating in diverse thinking.
  • Ability to achieve goals through influencing others.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to analyze data from various systems to identify opportunities/root causes.
  • Works with integrity and respect, displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tight‑timeline situations effectively.
  • Flexible and willing to advocate for change.
  • Ability to work through multiple obstacles to complete daily tasks.
  • Knowledge of how to collect data to effectively negotiate the best price possible.
Work Conditions

While performing duties in the plant or warehouse, the employee may be exposed to moderate noise; hearing protection may be required in designated areas.

Physical Demands

The role requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, and using a computer. Frequently required to sit and use a computer keyboard and mouse for long periods. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
