Field Service Validation & Calibration Technician

Base pay range: $60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr
SUMMARYThis role supports the maintenance, validation, and calibration of laboratory instrumentation by performing preventive service, troubleshooting, and field repairs. The technician ensures equipment reliability, documents validation work accurately, and provides technical support and training to customers. This position requires mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and frequent travel to customer sites across the U.S.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform preventive maintenance, system checks, troubleshooting, and repairs on precision lab instruments at customer facilities and in-house.
- Complete validation and qualification documents accurately based on established procedures.
- Deliver product training and guidance during customer visits.
- Provide ongoing technical support through phone or email.
- Work from electrical schematics to complete system connections and equipment setups.
- Prepare service reports, documentation, and expense submissions on schedule.
- Plan and organize travel efficiently to support customer appointments.
- Participate in recurring technical training to stay current with equipment and service requirements.
- Support internal production or quality teams when available on-site.
- Manage service tool inventory and ensure readiness for each visit.
- Help identify potential renewals or new preventive maintenance service opportunities.
- Build and maintain professional customer relationships.
- Assist with after-hours support as part of a rotating schedule.
- Technical diploma, electronics coursework, or similar experience working with analog and digital circuitry.
- Experience with calibration, validation, quality checks, or servicing analytical or electronic instrumentation.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing technical equipment.
- Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Strong field service background with the ability to travel frequently within the U.S.
- Competent in standard office and reporting software.
- At least two years of field service experience with proven ability to plan efficient travel.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Positive, professional demeanor with a commitment to ongoing training and process improvement.
- Able to lift 40 lbs. independently or up to 80 lbs. with a partner; must be comfortable with extended standing and frequent vehicle/air travel.
