Welding Paraprofessional

Overview

Welding Paraprofessional (Career Technical Education) – Mt. Pleasant Campus, Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center. The following position is available for the  school year.

Location:

Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center – Mt. Pleasant Campus

Reports To:

GI-TEC Director

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Work experience in the manufacturing, machining or welding industry.
• Working knowledge of computers and software programs.
• Demonstrate competency in oral and written communication.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional tact and diplomacy with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
• Has undergone a physical examination, by a licensed physician, that documents capability to perform required duties.
• Has an electronic fingerprint clearance from a criminal history record check.

• Support CTE students of all abilities in the classroom and off campus sites.
• Provide instruction and assessments to high school age students in all phases of the Welding classroom and lab settings.
• Assist students with organizing work, completing assignments, meeting deadlines, note taking, test preparation and test taking.
• Assist in the supervision of students in the lab to ensure all safety protocols and proper equipment use is being followed to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, their families and co-workers.
• Maintain secure and confidential records of all department and District data while abiding by and upholding all Board policies and procedures.
• Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the CTE Director or designee.

Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stand, walk and sit. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, and distance vision.

Work Environment:
The labs are subject to temperature and/or dust. Noise level may be moderate to loud.

Compensation:
This position works during scheduled student days (7 hours/day) with salary and benefits as outlined in the Agreement between the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association and the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education. Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions established in the same Agreement.
