Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Registered Nurse recognizes that each patient is a unique individual and has the right to quality nursing care with mutual goal setting between the RN and the patient, while protecting patient rights and privacy.
The RN is accountable to the ethical and professional standards defined in the ANA Code for Nurses, ANA Nursing’s Social Policy Statement, the State of Michigan Public Health Code, and the ANA and Specialty Nursing Standards of Clinical Practice. The RN is also accountable to standards set by regulatory agencies such as the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), HCFA (Healthcare Facilities Administration), and MIOSHA.
These accountabilities require competence in nursing practice and responsible acceptance of actions and judgments.
Responsibilities include maintaining professional nursing practice standards, collaborating with the care team, and ensuring patient rights and privacy are protected.
QualificationsRequired:
Education — Graduate of an approved registered nursing program.
Current Michigan Registered Nurse license.
BLS Certification.
ALS certification within three (3) months of date of hire or transfer.
PALS certification within six (6) months of date of hire or transfer.
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum) within one (1) year of hire or transfer.
Preferred:
- Six (6) months ER and/or ICU experience within the last two (2) years and/or meet internal posting criteria
- One year hospital practice as a registered nurse
