Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Registered Nurse recognizes each patient as a unique individual and has the right to quality nursing care that ensures mutual goal setting between the Registered Nurse and the patient, and that the Registered Nurse assures patient rights and privacy are protected.

• Adheres to ethical and professional standards as defined in the ANA Code for Nurses, ANA Nursing’s Social Policy Statement, the State of Michigan Public Health code, and ANA and Specialty Nursing Standards of Clinical Practice.
• Adheres to regulatory agencies standards such as AOA, HCFA, and MIOSHA.
• Requires individual competence in nursing practice and responsible acceptance of actions and judgments.

• Graduate of an approved registered nursing program.
• Current Michigan Registered Nurse license.
• BLS Certification required.
• Six months experience in Labor and Delivery within the last two years and/or meet internal posting criteria.
• Six months experience in the care of normal and high risk newborns and/or meet internal posting criteria.
• NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer date.

• One year hospital practice as a Registered Nurse.
