REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Maintenance or designee.
SummarySUMMARY: The position of Journeyman-Electrician is directly responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of the District’s electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. The main objective of the position is to ensure District buildings and grounds are fully operational at all times and within compliance of State and Federal regulations and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities- Installs a wide variety of electrical equipment including generators, transformers, controllers, circuit breakers, motors and other transmission equipment within the District.
- Tests and repairs electrical components and power distribution circuits.
- Ensures all systems adhere to electrical code, energy efficiency and safety standards.
- Attentive to work order requests and completes each request in a timely manner.
- Assists in the development of purchase specifications for required supplies, equipment or replacement parts.
- Assists in general maintenance and grounds keeping including snow removal and emergency response as assigned including overtime when needed.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Facilities and Maintenance or designee.

- Associates degree and/or completion of an electrician apprenticeship program resulting in certification as a Master Electrician / Journeyman with the State of Michigan.
- 5 years progressively responsible work-related experience.
- Valid driver’s license and pass a drivers history record check.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Sufficient knowledge of all electrical systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
WAGES AND BENEFITS: This is a 52 weeks position (full-time) with salary and benefits as outlined by the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education.
EvaluationEvaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Mt. Pleasant School District Board of Education.

Work EnvironmentWORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works both indoors and outdoors experiencing extreme temperature fluctuations. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers and sprays and non-household dust.
The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area. Occasionally works in high and confined spaces.
