Utility Locate Technician
Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure the area complies with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
The technician will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers and may work independently or within a team under an assigned supervisor.

- Background check required – no violations within the last 5 years.
- Pass a DOT drug test.
- Locate underground facilities using a transmitter and other detection equipment.
- Work in varied terrain and weather conditions.
- Interpret job orders, blueprints and maps to route efficiently.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with customers, contractors and management to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Operate and maintain necessary technology and tools.
- Follow safety and company procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read, interpret and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Experience with vacuum truck operations (A+ preferred).
- Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for several hours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
- Pass DOT drug test.

- 10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday

Education & Experience- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
- Utility Locating: 1 year (Preferred)
- Driver’s License (Required)
