Position: Flex Substitute Bus Driver

Reports to: Director of Transportation

Required Qualifications:
18 years of age or older
Must have or be able to obtain:

  • Class A or B CDL with S and P endorsement along with an air brake endorsement.
  • Pass state required physical exam and drug screening.
  • State required fingerprinting, driver’s license and background check.
  • Attend and complete a state safety education class, written and driving skill tests.
  • Ability to interact with both students and parents in a positive manner.
  • Experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Keep assigned bus clean.
  • Keep assigned schedule.
  • Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  • Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharge students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
  • Transport only authorized students.
  • Report all accidents and complete required reports.
  • Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
