Ophthalmic Technician II

Job Overview

Carolina Cataract & Laser Center is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician II at Eye South Partners for multiple offices in the Charleston, SC area, including Ladson, Walterboro, West Ashley Downtown Charleston, and Mount Pleasant. The role supports a high‑volume ophthalmic practice focused on quality and compassionate eye care for each patient.

• Obtain and document patient history.
• Determine visual acuity.
• Perform automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes.
• Perform basic lensometry.
• Conduct pupillary assessment.
• Carry out visual field testing.
• Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions as ordered by the physician.
• Measure intraocular pressure (tonometry).
• Pre‑operative preparation of patient.
• Perform basic ocular motility assessment.
• Execute automated keratometry.
• Conduct osmolarity testing.
• Carry out PAM.
• Perform office duties and clinical tasks—including entering data into EMR and providing patient services.
• Maintain equipment and instruments.
• Perform ocular imaging, including OCT and topography.
• Provide post‑operative education to patients.
• Seek instruction in areas where knowledge is lacking and recognize inconsistencies.
• Maintain confidentiality and pay attention to detail.

• Graduation from an accredited high school.
• 3–5 years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred.
• COA preferred.
• Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices; flexibility to travel to various locations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Customer service skills and a degree of independent decision‑making.
