Job Summary:

As an ophthalmic assistant, you will receive hands-on training that prepares you for a fulfilling career in ophthalmology. You will work alongside renowned ophthalmic surgeons and optometrists to improve patients’ vision and lives. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about helping others and enjoy a professional, team-oriented environment.
You will learn the skills to become an ophthalmic assistant and perform complex diagnostic testing and exams, contributing critical information to the doctors for medical and surgical care. Training provides a path toward advanced certification in an exciting and growth-focused field. Even if you’ve never worked in the medical field, we would like to hear from you.
- Work with ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide patient care by performing eye-related clinical functions.
- Take histories, perform procedures and tests, and prepare patients for the doctor.
- Provide doctors with important information to help diagnose and treat patients.
- Assist patients and provide excellent customer service and information regarding treatment.
- Conduct tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure.
- Measure visual acuity and document patients' medical histories.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications as directed.
- Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision.
- Instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
- High School Diploma or GED required; willing to train the right person; experience in optometry or ophthalmology is a plus.
- Experience in a professional environment with a strong customer service focus (preferred).
- Previous medical field experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Self-starter with the ability to learn and apply complex concepts; strong communication with warmth and empathy; team-oriented; motivated to grow a medical career in a surgical practice.
- Full-time position with home office located in [CITY, STATE].
