General Summary
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within Oterra’s manufacturing operations. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe working environment across the site by coordinating safety programs, training, inspections, and incident investigations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and company policies, while fostering a proactive safety culture that prioritizes employee well‑being and operational excellence.
PrincipalDuties And Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Lead and document incident investigations, root cause analyses, and near‑miss reporting.
- Coordinate and deliver safety‑related training, including new hire orientation, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable health and safety regulations.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, evacuation plans, and first aid programs.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and help drive engagement and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with supervisors and employees to promote best practices in workplace safety and injury prevention.
- Monitor and track leading and lagging safety indicators to support data‑driven safety performance improvements.
Onsite, full‑time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Working Conditions &Physical Requirements
- Work is frequently performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, dust, and noise levels.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and observing production operations throughout the day.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, and steel‑toed shoes.
- May be exposed to strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and food ingredients during inspections.
- Periodic evening or weekend work may be required to support safety investigations, audits, or training events.
- Use of computer and standard office equipment required for documentation, reporting, and communication tasks.
