Resident Activities Assistant

Overview

Resident Activities Assistant at Merrill Gardens, Carolina Park in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
Shift: 7 hours/week. Duties include driving residents to church and other outings, assisting with day‑to‑day activities and travel. The position is part of the Active Living Assistant program.

• Provide a high level of customer service to residents and team members in line with the MG CARES program.
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and participating in social events and outings to enrich resident life.
• Encourage residents, families, and the community to engage in activities and volunteer opportunities.
• Track resident activity participation and adjust calendar events with the Assisted Living Program Director.
• Stay informed on active aging trends and share best practices with staff and program directors.
• Develop community communications such as activity calendars.
• Transport and accompany residents to outside activities, shopping, and appointments using community vehicles.
• Set up and clean up activity spaces (moving furniture, tables, chairs).
• Acknowledge residents’ special days (anniversaries, birthdays).
• Conduct tours of the community as needed.
• Attend all in-service training and education programs.
• Assist with ordering and managing supplies for activities.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma required; college degree or equivalent preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preference for candidates with social activity involvement.
• Senior living experience preferred.

This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 75 lbs, and assisting with resident care. Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement are required throughout the workday. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
