Sign On Bonus: $10,000
Work Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 8:00am – 8:30pm OR Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 8:00am – 8:30pm with on‑call requirements.
Work Location: Mount Pleasant Hospital and limited floating to other department locations for on‑call duties.
Job SummaryThe MRI Technician is responsible for daily modality operations. The technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols, working closely under the direction of the radiologist and other physicians.
Essential Functions- Knowledge of MRI imaging workflows, procedures, operations, and processes.
- Application of magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
- Confirmation of quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data.
- Selection of appropriate MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols.
- Contribution to the training and education of new staff and assistance in oversight of MRI students.
- Provision of direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedures.
- Performance of IV injections and administration of magnetic contrast agents specific to procedures.
- Troubleshooting equipment during malfunctions in the absence of a service engineer and reporting malfunctions to radiology maintenance or supervisor.
- Associate’s degree from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accredited institute (preferred).
- Certification and Registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must be obtained within one year of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient care).
- 1 year of experience in an MRI department in a hospital setting (preferred).
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred).
- Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) experience (preferred).
