Position: Workers' Compensation Paralegal – (P106/o)

Overview

Dynamic, boutique personal injury law firm based in South Carolina is expanding and looking for a Workers' Compensation Paralegal to join their team. The firm is dedicated to fighting for the injured and their families including those injured in automobile, tractor-trailer, motorcycle, bicycle and pedestrian accidents, boating and maritime accidents.

Ideal candidates for the Workers' Compensation Paralegal position will have 3-5 years of legal service experience, preferably in a personal injury law firm. Successful candidates will be diligent, organized as well as have experience ordering, reviewing, and summarizing medical records and skilled in family settlement talks and mediation to avoid lawsuits.
This position is on-site at the firm’s Mount Pleasant, SC office.

Responsibilities
  • Assist lawyers with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, aiding with client meetings, submitting motions, researching legal publications, and coordinating witnesses
  • Help attorneys create legal pleadings, paperwork, and correspondence, including interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notifications, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
  • Give legal assistance at family settlement meetings and mediation so that disputes can be settled without going to court
  • Discuss potential lien, bill, and medical expense settlements with service providers or insurers
  • Set up a system of filing for our cases that is well-organized and easy to navigate, and other related admin duties
Qualifications
  • Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s Degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have 3-5 years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer required, preferably in a personal injury law firm
  • Certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) is highly preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
