Medical Lab Technician (Night Shift, Rotating Weekends/Holidays)
Join Titus Regional Medical Center as a Medical Lab Technician to help diagnose patients through laboratory testing for immunology, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank procedures.
Responsibilities- Collect, prepare, and analyze blood, urine, tissue samples, and body fluids for test requisitions from authorized providers.
- Examine collected samples and identify cellular or other abnormalities.
- Maintain laboratory inventory levels and place orders for new supplies as needed.
- Prepare detailed reports of test results and findings.
- Document and review test data using the hospital information system.
- Prepare tissue samples for examination and support pathologists.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Present test results to physicians and determine normal vs abnormal components of body fluids.
- Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells; prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment.
- Conserve laboratory resources by efficient use of equipment and supplies.
- Provide medical technology information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare and summarize reports of technological findings.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.
- Follow infection-control and hazardous waste policies; keep patient information confidential.
- Collaborate with team and complete assigned tasks promptly.
- Perform additional duties as necessary and manage stress while maintaining composure.
- Associate’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related field (required).
- Preferred:
Two years of hospital laboratory experience. - Preferred:
Certification from an approved medical society (e.g., ASCP or AMT) within one year of employment. - Ability to follow TRMC vaccine policies mandated by CMS.
Lifting/Carrying: 1‑10 lbs (34‑66% time), 11‑20 lbs (0‑33% time), 21‑50 lbs (0‑33% time), 51‑75 lbs (0‑33% time). 76‑100 lbs: none.
Movement:
Bend, stoop, twist, crouch, squat, kneel, crawl, reach above/below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand.
Grasping, squeezing, climbing stairs, walking uneven/even. Percentages as listed.
Environment:
Indoors 67‑100%, outdoors 0‑33%. No extreme heat, dusty, or excessive noise.
Equipment:
