RN - Surgery On-Call

RN - Surgery - Full Time (Monday-Thursday, 3:00PM-11:00PM, On-Call Requirements)

Under general supervision, Surgery Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. The nature of the direction and supervision required for this position varies by State and job setting. Due to the broad range of medical conditions surgical Nurses will encounter, they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.

• Knows/conforms to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations.
• Provide nursing services without discrimination.
• Responsible for the total nursing care, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient.
• Plan, provide, evaluate, and document nursing care, discharge planning and teaching.
• Assure the plan is carried out in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel.
• Educate patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
• Functions as charge nurse when required.
• Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintain composure during stressful situations.
• Maintain correct counts of instruments and supplies with the surgical team.
• Prepare the surgical area and safely position patients for the procedure.
• Follow and adhere to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by CMS.

• Two years of inpatient nursing experience preferred.

• Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire date required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 90 days of hire date required.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 90 days of hire date required.

Hiring requires ability to lift/carry 1-50 lbs for 34-33% of time, 51-75 lbs for 0-33% of time, and 76-100 lbs none. Movement tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, squatting, kneeling, crawling, reaching above or below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motions, climbing stairs, walking uneven/ even, include specified percentages of time. Work is mainly indoors (67-100%) with occasional outdoor exposure. Environment conditions include no extreme heat, dust, or excessive noise;
