Systems Engineer, IT Support

This travel-intensive role (50% nationwide travel) is based out of Mount Pleasant, WI and offers the opportunity to work on some of the most advanced data center operations in the industry. Key Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting and break/fix activities for enterprise-level data center hardware.
- Remove network cables as part of decommissioning activities.
- Run, label, and stage power and networking cables.
- Prepare, install, and decommission equipment following established procedures and guidance from Data Center Technician Leads.
- Conduct physical audits of data center assets.
- Execute basic hardware startups and shutdowns using documented instructions and checklists.
- Monitor systems for equipment failures or performance errors and respond accordingly.
- Assist with testing and debugging new programs in collaboration with programmers and systems analysts.
- Operate software tools (including spreadsheets) to load/manipulate data and generate reports.
As part of this role, you will travel to major data centers across the country and work directly with on-site technical teams. Your responsibilities will include assisting local technicians with various support tickets, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring smooth operations during deployments and maintenance activities.
Home BaseYour primary data center will be located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, serving as your home base for deployments, training, and coordination. While you will travel extensively to other major data centers nationwide, Mount Pleasant will remain your central hub.
Required Qualifications- 7+ years of dedicated Data Center experience (will consider candidates with less experience if highly qualified).
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and customer service mindset.
- Must be open to 50% travel nationwide.
- Associate’s degree in computer programming or equivalent training.
- Experience with GPU deployments (highly desirable).
- Data Center experience
- Data Center Operations (Break/Fix, Deployment, Troubleshooting).
- Cabling and Hardware Management.
- GPU Deployment Experience (preferred).
Contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 – $50.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
