Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & every other Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Job Brief:
We are seeking a skilled Level 2 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Level 2 Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining the data center’s IT systems, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted network services. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations, including familiarity with server installations, network updates, break‑fix tasks, and GPU deployment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks listed under Level 1 as needed.
  • Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.
  • Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.
  • Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.
  • Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.
  • Double‑check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.
  • Install additional components needed (NIC, drive, memory).
  • Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.
  • Audit servers and consumables.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that each server is encountering.
  • Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
  • Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
  • Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
  • Assist network admins with any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, rerouting cables, replacing optics, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions.
  • Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can log in and run configurations on the device.
  • Assist network admins who request specific assistance with servers or switches.
  • Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
  • Perform break‑fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers and components.
  • Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Flexibility to work non‑standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders when necessary.
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a data center environment.
Skills & Certifications
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.
  • CCENT or equivalent experience.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
  • Windows OS experience.
  • Experience with structured cabling, rack & stack, fiber, or optical testing.
  • Understanding of storage devices.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Framework (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).
  • Strong understanding of Network Fundamentals (OSI Layers 1‑3).
  • Experience with building, testing, and running cables between devices.
  • Experience with installing and terminating copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience with GPU deployment and troubleshooting.
  • OSHA 30 or higher certification.
  • Scripting experience preferred – Power Shell, Python, Bash.

This is a contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.

Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $28.00 – $28.00 /hr.
