• Essential Job Functions:
  
  Cashier/Checker is visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tender types:
  Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to policy.
• Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages/overages and assist loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons; stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departments or store management of repairs.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products sold in the department and store.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict constructively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults when appropriate.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Minimum Position Qualifications:
  
  Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
