Overview

Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift – Mount Vernon, IL. This is a 13-week travel nursing assignment in a 22-bed medical-surgical unit. Start date shown as September 15, 2025.

Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Hours per week: 36 (guaranteed, except holidays when the unit is closed). Weekend/holiday rotation:
Every other weekend and every other holiday.

Mount Vernon, IL 62864 (Southern Illinois).

Estimated weekly salary: $1,910 – $2,040.

• Provide high-quality nursing care to medical and surgical patients in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Manage a patient ratio of 5:1 (4:1 for primary nursing)
• Care for post-surgical, urology, GI, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF patients
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage tubes and drains
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC electronic health records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
• Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in adapting to unit needs

• Active Illinois RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Covid-19 vaccination required (medical or religious declination accepted)
• Ability to provide all required certifications upon submission
• Proficiency in remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight cath/Foleys, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy, and PCA
• Strong work ethic, adaptability, and resilience; team-oriented and social candidates preferred
• No local candidates (must reside outside a 40-mile radius of Mount Vernon, IL)
