Overview
The Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Nurse plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to adults with a wide range of medical conditions and surgical diagnoses. This nurse is responsible for performing comprehensive assessments, managing medications and treatments, coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting patients and families through education and discharge planning. The Med-Surg nurse functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires excellent clinical judgment, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments of adult patients with medical and surgical conditions.
- Manage medications and treatments, including monitoring responses and adjusting plans of care as needed.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered outcomes.
- Provide education and discharge planning support to patients and families.
- Demonstrate clinical judgment, adaptability, and strong communication in a fast-paced environment.
Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
ExperienceAt least one year of previous experience in a clinical unit preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team and excellent communication skills required. Requires physical stamina and emotional stability.
Licenses/Certificates- License to practice in the State of Illinois
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
Hourly range $31.25-$46.88
BonusPotential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.
IncentivesEligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
