Director of Information Systems (Hospital/On-Site) Base Pay Range

Job SummaryThe primary responsibility of the Director of Information Systems is to oversee the technological and non‑clinical support operations of the IS Department. The Director works collaboratively with Information Systems leadership to plan, coordinate, and direct all non‑clinical support and technical components of IS projects. The Director of IS will manage staff including Helpdesk Technicians, Network Engineer, Server Administrator, Applications Administrators, Programmer Analyst, Interface Administrator, IS Specialist and Telecommunications Specialist.
Knowledgeand Skills
- Experience in IS infrastructure strategic planning, development, project management, and policy development.
- Working knowledge of hospital and ambulatory EMR/EHR environments.
- Ability to prioritize and execute projects within limited time.
- Understanding of regulatory guidelines such as Joint Commission, Meaningful Use, HIPAA.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound problem solving, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Experience coaching and mentoring staff, detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to develop long‑term plans and evaluate work accomplishments.
- Progressive thinker who initiates change.
- Microsoft SQL Server preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, prioritize, direct, and schedule all non‑clinical application‑related projects and assignments.
- Implement and support hospital‑wide standardization, utilization, integration, and optimization of electronic health records (EHR) applications.
- Provide direction, supervision, and assistance to staff in daily duties.
- Conduct performance appraisals with mutually established goals.
- Intervene timely and appropriately in employee issues.
- Establish department quality objectives and benchmarks.
- Develop and monitor the department’s annual operating expenses and capital budgets.
- Facilitate and organize meetings to improve ongoing support and identify opportunities in process mapping.
- Adhere to Code of Conduct and Mission & Value Statement.
- Ensure system support, clinical quality, patient safety, and institutional efficiency.
- Develop, implement, document, evaluate, and maintain policies, procedures, and controls.
- Assist in developing strategic action plans, objectives, goals, and strategies.
- Coach and mentor the team to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in hospital activities and represent the hospital in delegated functions.
- Maintain professional growth to ensure current knowledge base.
- Attend staff meetings, educational programs, committees, QI activities and mandatory in‑services.
- Present a professional image.
- Assist with control of costs by judicious use of human and material resources.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospital Administration, or Information Technology (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of seven (7) years working experience in system management.
- Solid technical knowledge and leadership experience in IS.
