Position Summary
At Ashley, the #1 home store in North America, as a Sales Manager, you’ll lead a team to help customers create beautiful homes. The Sales Manager leads and develops, coaches, and mentors a team of 100% commission-based sales associates to achieve and exceed store sales goals. This role requires a dynamic leader who can inspire high performance, coach entrepreneurial selling skills, and create a motivating culture that drives individual and team successes.

What You ll Be Doing
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of commission-based sales associates to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Provide regular performance feedback, skills coaching, mentoring and create professional development plans tailored to each associate’s strengths and growth areas.
- Foster a high-energy, entrepreneurial culture that thrives on accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
- Manage change initiatives, new product launches, and promotional campaigns effectively.
Sales Performance & Strategy
- Translate store and company goals into actionable sales strategies that align with commission-based earning opportunities.
- Monitor sales KPIs daily, using real-time metrics to identify trends, adjust tactics, and drive results.
- Train the team in upselling, cross-selling, and building long-term customer relationships. Assist in solving customer service issues.
- Partner with merchandising and operations to ensure product availability, showroom presentation, and promotional execution.
- Ensure and effectively execute the company’s standard selling processes, assuring sales professionals are executing the fundamentals of selling as set by the company.
Commission-Specific Management
- Design and implement store recognition programs and contests to keep morale high between commission payouts.
- Recruit and onboard sales talent with the drive, discipline, and entrepreneurial spirit to succeed without a guaranteed base.
- Support resilience by coaching through slow periods, market changes, and customer objections.
- Implement retention strategies to keep top performers engaged and committed.
- Facilitates morning huddles, team meetings, and team communication.
Customer Experience
- Model and enforce exceptional customer service standards.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally to protect brand reputation.
- Ensure the team builds strong customer relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Directs customer traffic during busy times to ensure all customers are being supported.
Operational Excellence
- Schedule floor coverage to maximize selling opportunities during peak hours.
- Ensure team compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines, and promotional rules.
- Maintain awareness of competitive activity and market trends to adjust strategies proactively.
- Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by sales associates.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of team leadership experience, preferably in furniture or high-ticket sales.
- Proven track record leading commission-based or performance-driven sales teams.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and motivational-building skills.
- Experience recruiting, onboarding, and retaining high-performing salespeople.
Performance Expectations
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals.
- Maintain high sales associate retention rates.
- Drive year-over-year growth in average transaction value and customer satisfaction scores.
- Develop a pipeline of sales talent ready for advancement within the company.
