Paint historic homes in the Washington, D.C., area. Choose from Mount Vernon, Gunston Hall, Monticello, Highland, the White House, or your own home. Learn about the principles and elements of design as you compose your “portrait” of a historic house, whether nationally significant or personally meaningful.
The instructor demonstrates her favorite color palette: split-primary. Using just six pigments, students become familiar with the new language of watercolor materials, making personal choices for their portraits of these historic buildings. Some images are provided, and participants may bring their own images.
