Ophthalmic Technician – Northwest Eye Surgeons

What You’ll Do
  • Assist Ophthalmologists with patient workups, examinations, in-office procedures, and lasers.
  • Accurately document ocular exams, assessments, and treatment recommendations in real time.
  • Support patient understanding by reinforcing provider instructions and sharing educational materials.
  • Maintain smooth patient flow and clear communication regarding appointment status.
  • Take and document detailed patient medical histories.
  • Administer ophthalmic medications, apply eye dressings, and instruct patients on care and treatment.
  • Perform special testing and operate advanced ophthalmic equipment, including:
    • Auto Refractor, Retinoscope, Phoropter, Slit Lamp
    • Pentacam/Topography, Wavescan
    • IOL Master/Instar
    • Zeiss and Heidelberg OCT
  • Conduct Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot testing, and stereopsis testing.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
  • Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal.
Requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and G‑Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and patient‑care skills.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A team player willing to support multiple areas of the clinic as needed.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant.
  • COA or COT certification preferred.
  • Commitment to maintaining required education, training, and licensure.
