LEVEL II BULB/FLOWER PRODUCTION WORKER – Mount Vernon, WA
Operates various specialized flower and flower bulb production equipment including bulb graders, cleaners, de‑clustering machines, de‑rooters, electronic counters, other greenhouse equipment, tractors and forklifts, etc.
Operates specialized flower and flower bulb production lines.
Prepares the production lines for processing flowers or bulbs.
Operates a small forklift (having passed forklift safety class) and greenhouse equipment including small tractors with implements such as a spader, roto‑tillers, and cultivators.
Operates other greenhouse equipment such as flower bulb planters, sawdust spreaders, diggers, tractors and other machinery to fertilize, cultivate, harvest and spray fields and plants.
Assists in planting, caring for, and harvesting greenhouse flower crops – irrigation, hand watering, installing crop supports, trimming, etc.
Installs, removes, and repairs greenhouse equipment including roof coverings, inflator motors, poly‑lock, and other light‑duty maintenance tasks.
Possesses a good working knowledge of tulip, daffodil, iris, and lily bulbs and flowers, and can quickly learn specific variety names and seasonal habitats.
Ensures safe work practices and maintains a safe work environment for the bulb and flower processing areas.
Makes small mechanical repairs to keep equipment running.
Maintains accurate daily records of what was planted, harvested, processed, packed or shipped.
Records attendance information.
Ensures quality at every level of the growing/harvesting/processing procedure.
May perform other tasks involved with growing and processing bulbs or cut flowers when the above work is not available.
Installs, cares for, and maintains display garden throughout the season with tasks such as soil conditioning, planting bulbs in outdoor growing areas, using hand tools and equipment, fertilizing, watering, weeding, transplanting or thinning plants, mixing and applying pesticides, building display frameworks, laying out designs, maintaining bushes and trees, cleaning display beds, and maintaining all WBVC owned landscapes.
Maintains and repairs gardening hand tools and equipment and structures such as greenhouse and packing sheds using maintenance and carpentry tools, and may do maintenance painting to prolong life of structures.
Uses mowers, trimmers, edgers, shears and pruning loppers to maintain display areas and overall grounds of WBC.
Job Requirements- One (1) month of previous work experience.
- Willing to commit to the entire contract period.
- Willing to work in extreme temperatures.
- Able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day.
- Willing to make repetitive movements.
- Meet all qualifications of the clearance order.
- Be able, willing, and qualified to perform the work.
