Summary/Objective

As the General Manager of our Mount Vernon HQ, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our retail coffee shop, manage our team of baristas, and ensure an outstanding customer experience. This position is hands‑on and fast‑paced, requiring both leadership and operational capability. You’ll handle scheduling, inventory management, vendor relations, backend POS updates, and assist in hosting local events. This is a part‑time, hourly position reporting directly to ownership.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team of baristas, ensuring consistent performance and positive team morale.
  • Create and maintain shift schedules and provide coverage as needed.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships for retail and café supplies.
  • Ensure high product availability through effective inventory systems.
  • Maintain and update POS menus and pricing.
  • Uphold 22 Sierra’s high standards of customer service and store cleanliness.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to baristas.
  • Assist in creating and hosting HQ‑based community events.
  • Monitor and report on sales, labor, and cost of goods.
  • Regular attendance is critical to the operation of our business.
Job Duties
  • Greet and engage with customers to create a welcoming, community‑focused environment.
  • Serve as a working manager: making drinks, assisting with food, and supporting staff.
  • Drive sales through customer engagement, team motivation, and upselling.
  • Assist baristas with customer issues or shift concerns.
  • Step in to cover barista shifts when needed.
  • Monitor daily financials and product waste.
  • Take direction from and report directly to the owner.
  • Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team culture.
  • Ability to learn and enforce processes and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Basic math skills and understanding of financial tracking.
  • Strong customer service orientation and sales instincts.
  • Knowledge of specialty coffee preferred.
Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • At least two years of food service, coffee, or retail management experience.
  • Barista experience strongly preferred.
  • Food safety manager certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Veteran or family of veteran preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility

Yes – directly oversees baristas and shift operations.

Fast‑paced and high‑pressure t be flexible and available to work mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed by management.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent verbal communication and in‑person interaction.
  • Use of espresso machines, coffee equipment, and POS systems.
  • Reaching, stooping, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Part‑time (~30 hours/week)

Primary schedule:
Weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Must be available to work or cover any shift (mornings, weekends, closings).
