  • Position is for either an experienced Aerospace Design or experienced Analysis Engineer
  • Supports landing gear systems for In-Service and/or new Development Aircraft
  • Performs Design or Analysis work that deploys agreed upon and harmonized company standards, incorporates appropriate lessons learned to identify the optimum engineering solution.

PURPOSE OF

THE ROLE:

This position supports Safran Landing Systems’ landing gear projects and related development and in-service activities. The role emphasizes collaboration, engineering rigor, and adherence to airworthiness and safety requirements.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS GENERAL:

  • University degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline
  • Detail and results oriented with well-developed problem solving and ability to adhere to schedules
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent English written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Knowledge and experience with CAR/FAR/CS 25 specifications
  • Able to travel internationally or work offsite for periods of time
  • Able to work on U.S. Military Projects
  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
  • STRESS ENGINEER POSITION: Responsible for the structural integrity of Landing Gears and Landing Gear Systems
  • Experience in the field of structural engineering with a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of Solid Mechanics and Fatigue
  • Proficient with computer programs such as Mathcad, nCode, PATRAN, NASTRAN, and ABAQUS
  • Collaborate with Design team, Customer, offload service providers, and external partner/supplier structural engineers
  • Perform the following activities (not limited to):
    Classical Strength and Fatigue Analysis;
    Finite Element Analysis;
    Weight Optimization;
    Establish Qualification Test Requirements;
    Prepare and review analysis reports compliant to airworthiness specifications and customer requirements;
    High quality checking of other stress analysts and offload resources work; MRB Support
  • DESIGN ENGINEER POSITION: Familiar with and has experience in all aspects of design of landing gear; mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and components
  • Work on special projects (airworthiness, re-design) and design changes/improvements as required
  • Participate in Concurrent Engineering with various company functions including Stress, Dynamics, Systems, Quality, Product Support, Manufacturing, etc.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to ASME Y.14.5M-1994
  • Use of CATIA V5 for solid modeling, kinematics, MBD and 2D layouts
  • Create high quality Model Based Definition and/or comprehensive detail drawings of large, complex structural components in CATIA V5
  • Create and interpret complex tolerance stack-ups and comprehensive design layouts
  • Produce comprehensive layouts and tolerance analysis with a mindset of design for manufacture and cost reduction
  • Ability to execute high quality checking of other Designer s work
  • Basic engineering analysis to substantiate initial layouts
  • Create and update documents using Product Data Management (PDM) system
  • MRB Support
