Summary:
The Microbiology Quality Lab Associate I:
Performs complex routine and non-routine sampling and processes samples in support of the Microbiology department. This position reports to a Microbiology Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned) :
· Performs testing (bioburden, sterility, growth promotion, etc.) on finished products and in-process samples.
· Performs maintenance of microbial cultures, performs gram stains, and microbial identifications.
· Perform routine micro raw material/final device testing through final analyses.
· Performs investigational work in support of out of specification samples, using training and scientific method to identify root cause and corrective actions.
· Documents and processes samples in a Laboratory environment.
· Investigates and authors Microbiology investigations and method validations.
· Analyzes and enters test data.
· Participate in continuous improvement activities.
· Performs manufacturing process observations to determine sources of microbial contamination.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Qualifications):
· Bachelor’s degree required in Microbiology or related science field.
· Previous experience working in a GMP regulated environment preferred.
· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: BPLM, Trackwise, etc.)
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Works with minimum supervision
Physical / Safety Requirements:
· Position requires handling of laboratory chemicals and bacterial cultures
· Duties may require overtime work
· Use of hands and fingers to manipulate lab equipment is required
· Position requires sitting or standing for long hours.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs
· This is a safety-sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment
