SUMMARY: Responsible and accountable for creating and maintaining a safe and effective environment for Baxter Health’s employees, patients, and visitors.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Previous Security Officer or law enforcement experience preferred.
Commissioning:
Must be able to pass an extensive background check and certify through the Arkansas State Police and Security Training Officer (Director of Security) as an Armed Private Security Officer within two weeks from date of hire.
License:
Must have a valid AR driver’s license. Will be subject to Arkansas motor vehicle check and must be accepted by hospital insurance carrier.
Other:
- Must be qualified, or able to qualify, with both a firearm and handcuffs as they apply to the hospital’s Use of Force Continuum
- Must be able to pass department physical fitness, weapon retention and deployment, and defensive tactics examinations. Testing will be administered by the Director of Security or designee. Tactical capability, firearms training, and defensive tactics training are mandatory and ongoing. All officers are required to attend, participate, and show proficiency in each concentration during training sessions under the direction of the Director of Security and designees.
Training hours are allotted over normally scheduled work hours. - Knowledge to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of hospital safety and security practices
- Must have the ability to defuse and deal with physical and verbal conflicts among visitors and staff as well as respond to emergency calls for security, fire and assistance to local law enforcement agencies
- Basic computer knowledge required
