Utility Locator – USIC

Join USIC as a Utility Locator and help protect critical infrastructure across the United States. This role focuses on locating underground utilities safely and efficiently, enabling our customers to maintain vital services.

Compensation
: $20.00 hourly

Your Responsibilities as a Locator
  • Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities—including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Thoroughly search designated areas, accurately marking locations, completing documentation, and photographing each locate.
  • Work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle and advanced ticket & claims management systems.
  • Meet a 48‑hour turnaround on many locates, including working after holidays, some weekends, overtime, and on‑call shifts (including nights).
What We Need from You
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions; prior outdoor experience is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Available for overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Confined‑space tolerance; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark utilities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
  • Clear communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
